Pamela Edmondson | Writer, Photographer, Videographer
My name is Pamela Edmondson and I am a conscious creator based in New Zealand.
Nut Brown Rose is a “slow” blog intended to whisk you away to the idyllic life in New Zealand. It inspires you to slow down and embody the values of the New Zealand lifestyle. Together, we explore topics like travel and storytelling as tools to sink deeper into the human experience.
I have an unshakable ethos of sustainability, which makes me selective with the clients I work with. I gravitate toward all things slow and sustainable: off-grid cabins, eco-retreats, locally-owned businesses doing good for their communities.
I seek deserted nature to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures in life, and bring that feeling back to audiences through evocative storytelling. It is also important that my content is culturally informed, always with a nod of respect to tangata whenua (people of the land).
A Bit of Story
I was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1993. When I was seven years old, I picked up a scrap of paper to document a traumatic event, and I haven’t stopped writing since.
Years later, my mother packed a single bag and we fled to the USA. Through these turbulent times, my little body collected trauma and blessings like butterflies in a jar, and I managed their restlessness through writing.
In November 2017, the restlessness became too great and I bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand.
These days, I live in Wellington with my Kiwi partner, Shaun. He is forever my teacher in slowing down, tuning into the world around me, and cultivating deep love and respect for plants.
I still carry that scrap of paper and use it as a reminder of the healing potential of words. I utilise that power in everything I do.
“I don’t know what I think until I write it down.” – Joan Didion
